"Great Boots" 2009-10-29

I bought a pair of these recently and they are the best looking pair of engineer boots that I have ever owned. They fit great, feel great, have a great sole and over all are great to own. The word GREAT is obvious here......

If you are looking for a pair of engineer boots to wear or ride in then these are a great choice. I should add that I have doube E (EE) feet and these fit fine once you get them on. Both boots are the same height as well and nothing is broken......

I recommend them strongly.

Chippewa Boots, A Berkshire Hathaway Company owned by Warren Buffet. I guess he is to busy to check from time to time the quality control of the Chippewa Boot factory.

I received one pair and a replacement pair in one week that were both defective. The first pair, one boot was shorter than the other by 1", and the padded foot bed inserts were missing. The second pair there was a fold in the leather on the top of the boot, and again no padded foot bed.

I talked to customer service at Chippewa and they had indicated that people (Nobody specific), take out and steal the foot beds, and that they have produced boots frequently that are either shorter or longer than the other. These boots are made in America!!!

The Chippewa customer service rep indicated that there is nothing they can do, and to return them to Amazon, Nice! If you are going to spend $180.00 for a pair of boots, look at another brand! They are just not worth the money or aggravation

I work for a shipping company and have gone through 3 pairs of boots in 8 months, they wear out or are too uncomfortable to wear. All were well know name brands. I happened upon this company Chippewa and I don't think I'll buy a boot from another company again. The difference is the interior. High quality padding etc. More comfortable than some sneakers I've owned. They are also made in America which is only a plus in my book.

I ordered it on [...] in size 6. Yeah I'm a girl who likes big boots. I had been doing research on tall engineer boots for 2 weeks before actually bought it. After checking Frye and chippewa in local stores I decided to go for chippewa. the 1st consideration is price of course. God knows why women's boots are so much expensive than men's. Frye's 15" Engineer boots for women are $[...] more expensive than Chippewa's. The 2nd reason is quality. For some reason, several Frye boots of the same style use very different leather. And each pair feels different from another when u step ur feet in. i can't help but doubt the actual quality of their boots. With Chippewa, at least all the boots I have seem are of the same quality, and they are all confortable to wear.

Some ppl are complaining about the belts on 11" Chippewa engineer boots. Unfortunately I have to say they are right. The leather used for these belts is not very good. But for me, a non-proffesional biker they are nothing but decoration. So yeah I am happy with these boots. Hopefully I don't need to buy other boots in 6 years if not longer.

"I loved these boots." 2009-10-05

I owned a pair of these for three years with no complaints. These things took a beating and never broke down, you can be working in the rain, mud, snow, sleet what ever and your, feet will stay dry and warm the ENTIRE day, it even keeps them relatively cool during the summer. The soles have great traction, even in the snow which is tough for most work boots as the snow gets packed into the treads and ices up. Don't get me wrong you have to kick them clean every now and then but compared to others their pretty stable in snow.

There was one issue I had with the boot which was a plastic piece behind the heal, it had worn through the fabric. The piece dug into the back of my heal and made it pretty painful to wear, even with the heavy boot sock. I tried to repair it but every time it would only temporarily hold up. The plastic piece was in there pretty tight and I feared yanking it out and ruining the boot. I still have them and plan on someday taking them to be repaired.

The boot is expensive, I used it in a very rough environment and got 3 solid years out it. I averaged about a pair a year before I bought the Logger. I wore Timberline, Herman Survivor's and Tom Mccain, (which was the most comfortable boot I ever wore), None of these could't hold up to the environment I worked for more than 10 to 12 months. Even with applying bee's wax once a month, all of these boots leaked within 2 to 3 hours working in wet conditions, my loggers NEVER leaked.

If you have the money go with Chippewa, the costs averages itself out in the long run. If you don't beat on them and work in harsh environments the things will last forever. If you do work in rough environments you will definitely appreciate these boots right off the bat.

You get what you pay for, and these are definitely worth their price.

This boot is all good. There are no cons. It is solid, warm, fits great and feels awesome on the inside. The leather is high quality. The insulation works. It is actually waterproof (the leather under the tongue connects with the boot so there is no open slots for water to go through. I love it.

I have size 13 EE feet that are totally flat and this boot fit great. If you have big feet don't hold back, go for it. If you have small feet, go for it too, just order the D model instead of the EE model. This shoe is quality all the way. And it is even made in the USA, which is always nice.

It seems like the kind of solid boot that you will own and wear for a decade or more. Its the kind of boot that you will replace the soles on when they wear out. It isn't a cheap piece of junk like most of the "hiking" boots that are on the market today which are not designed to last. This boot is designed to last.

I give it 5 stars.
